During their brief introduction, the writer/director and the producer told us this was a family friendly movie. Unfortunately that seems to mean it was a “kids’ movie.” Not that there were any kids in it for them to relate to, now that I think about it. But the script was that superficial—went through the usual paces, hit all the predictable highs and lows, and the characters didn’t feel like they had any depth.

During the Q&A the writer/director said he’d done a lot of research, but I didn’t see it. When it came to hinting how the guy’s technology for capturing the energy from the lightning might work, or how the gal (who was an electrical engineer) might be enhancing his devices (in a matter of minutes), there was no explanation at all—just a few buzzwords peppered in to try to sound good.
