This was a very fun film. As I remember, the first half is firmly in romantic comedy mode, stylishly and wittily filmed, and really establishes the cast of characters we are watching. I remember enjoying it but thinking, “Why is this film at Other Worlds Austin?”
Then BOOM, out of nowhere the script drops in a science fiction element. Now we’re watching these characters wrestle to deal with that new thing (much as we viewers are). And by the end we’ve all veered into horror territory together…
All the shifts in genre and tone were skillfully executed. This movie was a delightful trip well worth the journey.
