Context is everything.
I had no context going into this movie. And came out thinking the script sucked, with cardboard characters and almost nothing to move us from one action scene to the next. But had a crap-ton of car chases, explosions, etc. And boy, weren’t they proud of some of those stunts—they really spent a long time on some of those stunts…
Afterwards I found what was supposed to be a pre-show introduction. (The movie, the pre-show, and the Q&A afterwards are all presented with the same graphic on the streaming service.) Which explained that the movie was written by, directed by, and starring stuntmen. Well, that explained a lot. And raised my rating from D to C. I may have enjoyed it even more if I’d been in on the joke from the beginning.
If you get in this speeding, screeching-around-corners car with the right expectations, you might enjoy the ride.
