This was the second movie (of two) I was really looking forward to seeing at this year’s festival. And I was not disappointed.
Halfway through I feared where it was going. Three quarters in I found I was wrong (thankfully) and it really showed all the layers it was juggling. And the ending was so good, and surprising, and craftily calling back to earlier scenes, the whole movie totally paid off for me.
Excellent performances by Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Highly recommended.
