Very funny. A little bit silly—you kind of just had to go with some elements. I appreciated that the humor was derived from human situations, and maybe some of the general absurdity of LARPing, but I never felt it was making fun of LARPing.
The director, Eric Judor, said in the Q&A that when he signs on to a project (and I see for all six of his directing credits he also starred, even in the TV series), he likes to make a pass through the script to add some of his own comic style. I’ll be interested to see some of his other work and see whether the characters differ even if the style of humor is similar.
I was pleased to see him unafraid to poke fun at himself (or at least, at his character), and in hindsight he was probably poking fun at certain types of people (French or otherwise). For example:
