What an odd little film.
From the trailer, I’d expected a very indie film. But I recognized several of the actors and they had some decent special effects, so they seemed to have an actual budget. (They even got several minutes of voiceover from Stephen Fry, for god’s sake.)
Looking up the two leads on IMDB: Their only credits are doing costumes for a 10-minute Alien short film and acting in this movie. Unexpected, because both did fine jobs here.
The trailer only captures the initial gag, the hook for the film. There is much more to the story than “acquiring” relics from the past to sell in the present. The whole movie is a mix of gags running the full gamut from subtle to in-your-face.
All in all, I was impressed by the creativity of the script and amused by the entire production.
