I was tricked into watching a documentary. 🙂 My fault, actually—I did not scroll down in the description far enough to see its classification. I prefer narrative features—as such I had high hopes for this one (even though the topic has been explored recently by Her, and back in 2007 by Lars and the Real Girl).

But once I’d realized my error, I settled into my seat and actually enjoyed the film. As you would hope, the subject whose story was being told was not a stereotypical ugly nerd who can never get a woman, so there is some actual psychology to analyze. Though in the end, I can’t say I had a huge amount of empathy for him. I still marvel at the decisions he makes, especially when he (and I) can see all the details he is basing his decisions on.
