What a strange but amusing film.

The main character was basically a very small-time scam artist. She was doing so to “survive,” although she could choose to get a regular job instead. She came across as very selfish and self-involved, and sometimes a bitch.

And yet I really wanted to see what happened next. I can’t quite say I was rooting for her. (Maybe a little? I did feel some compassion for her.) This was more “I couldn’t turn away from the (90 minute) car crash.” Kudos to the writer/directors and the actress for making such a watchable movie about such an unlikeable character. A lot of that was due to the wacky supporting characters and creative scenarios written into the script.

There was one scene that was a setup, and just as the realization of where it was heading swept over me some guy a couple or rows back exclaimed (very loudly), “Oh no!” I’m sure the directors loved that reaction.
