This was a delightful and thoughtful film! The literal surface is about what it takes to be human. But underneath, it is about how we approach and interpret life, and maybe a little about whether we have any control over that.
I am completely impressed with the writer/director! Looks like this was his first feature-length film, but I would have thought it was his tenth. The script was wonderful at setting up this strange world and it’s rules, and the characters were wonderful. And the director obviously had a clear vision for tone and style which he executed marvelously.
And the actors were fantastic as well. I really have no complaints about the film. With Nine Days, Austin Film Festival 2020 is off to a great start!
