Production values were great for this film. Direction was obviously nodding to Hitchcock and was enjoyable to watch. But again we come down to the script… I knew we were in trouble when the director introduced it by saying, “Don’t try to figure it out the first time you watch it, just let it flow over you.” It reminded me of The Big Lebowski, meandering through LA and exposing zany secrets. But it wasn’t as funny and didn’t seem to have a purpose. The director in the Q&A seemed to say the purpose of the movie is hidden within it. But I think the real trick would have been to wrap the secret message within a real story.
