I’m the kind of guy who sometimes will find movies and their remakes and watch them all within a few days. So I really enjoyed this mixed-up mash-up of three TV movie approaches to the same story. (According to the folks who introduced the movie, all three were broadcast within one week–two of them in the same time slot.)
At first I concentrated on trying to understand which movie each scene came from. But by the end it all gloriously melded together and didn’t really matter. They mostly told the same story anyway, with minor differences in detail. (Each movie had to option some source material, so one was Amy’s story, one was Joey’s story, and one was from journalists’ articles. As you might guess, the first two tended to lean a little in a particular direction.)
One small complaint–the filmmakers kept trying to add touches of humor through callbacks of previously seen clips. These often did not work for me. But overall, it was a fascinating way to watch this story be told.
