Fun movie. The first 2/3 was interesting, but I really didn’t know what it was building to. Then suddenly the full set of secrets (not just the first tidbit—the full set) is revealed, and the humor really takes off, and the whole story comes together.
I was surprised during the Q&A when the writers said the climax of the movie was not that way from the start, as it fit so naturally. They had felt for a while the ending was lacking. But it wasn’t until the director decided they did not have enough budget to film certain special effects scenes the way they wanted. As they figured out a cheaper alternative, one of the writers put that together with some other pieces of the movie and boom, they had their ending.
