I really enjoyed this film. The main character was interesting, and on an emotional level going through something we all do at one point (even if we’re not social media influencers).
The script was good. The directing was good. (I especially enjoyed some of the shots taken by drone from very high above.) The lead actress was very good.
The Q&A revealed some very interesting details:
1) This is the very first time this woman has acted. In anything. (Her answers at the Q&A were very short and shy—definitely not an actress.)
2) This film started as a short, which the director later expanded into a feature film. But he wasn’t happy with the feature, so he cut it down to a 20- or 30-minute short (longer than the original), which was shown at Austin Film Festival a couple of years ago. Everyone who saw the longer short told them they should expand it into a feature. So they rolled up their sleeves, wrote a new script that re-used all the footage from the longish short (since they’d spent so much money on it), and shot the new scenes.
The resulting movie is very impressive.
