An engaging movie that I really enjoyed watching. The script was well done, layering in elements and incidents that all came back at the end. And two good actresses. (And a soundtrack that was intriguing without intruding–I didn’t even realize it until the end credits mentioned the composer.)
Because the trailer’s page does not have any description, there’s this from the SXSW website: “A decade after abruptly breaking up with Naomi, Kris invites her to dinner to catch-up on their complicated lives, relationships, and Kris’ transition.”
There were a few times the movie edged close to being a docu-drama about transitioning. But in the end, it was a fairly balanced drama about a couple who had broken up years ago without any closure and dealing with it years later. As entertaining as the first two acts were, it was the third act that really grabbed me and elevated the film as a whole.
