Yet another experimental film at this festival, but this one less successful. There is almost no dialog in the film (once it was used effectively, and just after that it was unnecessary and deflated the effectiveness of the first time). Admittedly the visuals were very stylish and pleasant to watch. On the other hand, many of the scenes ran notably too long.
And in the end, this was yet another movie that spiraled down into a WTF/what did that mean ending? This film was European (the director is Portuguese) and I’m seeing that is a trend, at least amongst the independent European films imported for the festivals I am attending. But ugh, those types of endings turn me off regardless of the visual stylings…
