| B | Sundance 2025 |

This movie was more a slice-of-life story, or character study, than a traditional movie with a character arc. Which, it seems to me, requires everyone involved to step up their game even more to impress an audience.

The writer/director was also the star, and she did a terrific acting job. For the most part I’d say the direction was good, although there were more close-ups of people and things than I tend to want.

And in hindsight I will say the script was good. Throughout and at the end I was disappointed because I wanted to see the main character “succeed” and resolve some of her issues (unaware at the time it wasn’t that kind of movie). But even disappointment is an emotion and indicates I was invested in the main character and rooting for her.

So yes, I recommend it. But go into it understanding it is a thoughtful exploration of part of the human experience, not a rousing “feel good” movie.
