| B+ | Fantastic Fest 2024 |
I finally got to see a Baby Assassins movie at Fantastic Fest! In 2021 I was intrigued by the description of the first one, but the tickets went too fast and I didn’t get one. I later rented it at home and was hooked! Last year, #2 screened at the festival and I again could not land a ticket. (I wasn’t as pleased with it when I rented it, but that did not dissuade me from the franchise.) This third time was the charm.
And this one had the same amount of charm as the first one. More fun as the girls switch from lazily trying to avoid assignments, then jumping into full professional mode when they get to the job location. More fascinating fight choreography. An interesting opponent. And this time they have to work as part of a larger team, which is not their style…
Already I’m looking forward to #4 (should there be one 🤞🏻).

Sorry, I could not find a trailer with English subtitles. But you can get something (which is pretty poor) on the YouTube site by following these steps:
- Pausing the video (because this process takes so long).
- Clicking the CC icon, which will turn on auto-generated Japanese subtitles.
- Clicking the Settings (gear) icon, selecting Subtitles/CC, selecting Auto-translate, then selecting English.
- Now start the video.
I assure you the movie’s subtitles are a thousand times better.
